In the grand tradition of holiday window display, Citizen Vintage has collaborated with a team of artists to create a whimsical winter wonderland unlike any other you’ll see this season. The display is not one to miss and will be on view now until the new year.
A vernissage for the artists will be held Friday, December 16th, 2011 from 6-9pm (5330 St. Laurent Boulevard). Cider and homemade baked goods will be served along with live musical performances. Items from Hercules Taxidermy will be available for purchase for the duration of the month.

Hercules Taxidermy Imports (Alex Hercule and Zuzu Knew with the assistance of Simon Fortin) specialize in the use of Victorian taxidermy and have incorporated antique fox, goat, baby bears and birds into their theatrical, imaginary world constructed with crystals, lace, tulle, sequins…and a little magic.
The large vitrine shop windows overlooking St. Laurent Boulevard are the perfect stage to showcase a carefully crafted universe including an underground den (complete with tortoise shell hammock, gramophone and carefully placed artifacts of a bear’s life in hibernation) a gingerbread chalet and spinning disco cloud dripping with lace and crystal snowflakes.
In the opposite window, an Alexander McQueen inspired floral wreath and attached tulle deer antler masks crown the Snow King and Queen (dressed their best; she in a vintage lace wedding gown and vintage Ferragamo patent leather heels, and he in a houndstooth blazer and luxurious vintage fur collar). The king and queen are flocked by antlers mounted on a wall of vintage framed mirrors, suggesting a family tree of anthropomorphic ancestry .
One’s imagination is instantly engaged and invited to run wild in this playful and artistically articulated interpretation of holiday décor.
